Jim Eanes

Born: 12/6/1923    Died: 11/21/1995

As a Blue Grass Boy: Jim Eanes was hired by Bill Monroe in early 1948, after spending a few weeks with the just-forming Foggy Mountain Boys. He was with the band for about nine months before leaving to start a solo career. He was in the band at the same time as Don Reno and Benny Martin; sadly this lineup never recorded together.

Before and After: Eanes performed and recorded both with studio musicians and with his own band, the Shenandoah Valley Boys, from 1949 until 1990. He reunited with Bill for several of the "Story of Bluegrass" events organized by Carlton Haney in the late 1960s.
